Opening with a cacophony of helicopter blades and eastern influenced chords, the track quickly distils the psychedelic mind bending vortex of Tomorrow Never Knows era Beatles and attaches it to an explosive guitar riff that conjures up a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club hosted desert exorcism. Drenched in frontman Michael Badger’s ethereal, reverb coated vocals, the song soundtracks an invisible trip cutting through the space/time continuum. 

The Demon Parade, over the course  of two EP and several single releases have racked up the accolades; from significant airplay including Triple J, Rage and community radio across Australia and receiving the blessing of many a tastemaker across the music industry, the band have also been personally selected for tours alongside the likes of the Brian Jonestown Massacre and Swervedriver, not to mention playing alongside Aussie favourites Something For Kate, British India, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Regular John, Dune Rats, Spiderbait and Stonefield.

After whetting the public’s appetite with singles “Why’d You Have To Kiss Me So Hard?” and the infectious “Awoooh!” (www.vimeo.com/lauraimbruglia/ awoooh), Laura is finally ready to present the other pieces of the puzzle.

“What A Treat” (which, incidentally is packaged with a fan-funded jigsaw puzzle!) heralds the expansion of Laura’s sound from 3-piece to 5-piece band, introducing lead guitar and pedal steel to flesh out her arrangements.

After relocating from Sydney to Melbourne in 2010, Laura swiftly acquired some of Melbourne’s finest musicians to form her band (members of Smallgoods, Ground Components & Midnight Woolf are in the mix). Together, Laura and band switch effortlessly from psych-rock to power pop to country, further enforcing Laura’s reputation as a versatile, ever-changing musical enigma.

Lyrically, the songs are about unrequited love, poor decisions and the shame associated with finding oneself in recurring bad life patterns. Imbruglia’s forthright style is put to good use dealing with such themes – her insights are harsh and often darkly humorous. Special guest musicians include Laura Jean, Ben Salter (The Gin Club), Seja Vogel (ex-Regurgitator), Fraser A. Gorman, Bob Harrow and Peter Lubulwa (Immigrant Union).

Ten years into her career, Laura has matured into a writer worthy of attention. “What A Treat” combines the punkier moments of “Self-Titled” (2006) and the dark country of “The Lighter Side Of…” (2010), with unabashed widescreen pop, resulting in her most accomplished album to date.

Blues is the teacher. Punk is the preacher. With a band like The BellRays it’s all about emotion and energy, experience and raw talent, spirit and intellect. Exciting things happen when these things collide. And Australian audiences are about to witness all the above things when The BellRays return this June for a 5-date tour.

To co-incide with the upcoming Australian Tour, The BellRays will release their album 'Black Lightning', a stunning mix of high octane garage rock, laced with soulful vocals. Sultan Sounds will release the album on Friday 17th May 2013, with the 'On Top' single arriving Friday 19th April 2013.

Bob and Lisa made The BellRays happen in 1991. They wanted to play music and they wanted it to feel good. They wanted people to WANT to get up, to NEED to get up and check out what was going on. So they took everything they knew about; the Beatles,  Stevie Wonder, the Who, the Ramones, Billie Holiday, Lou Rawls, Hank Williams, the DB’s, Jimmy Reed, Led Zeppelin (to name a very few) and pressed it into service. 

It was never about coming up with a ‘sound’, or fitting in with a scene. It was about the energy that made all that music so irresistible. It was the history BEFORE Led Zeppelin that led them to that point. The Beatles thought they were playing R&B. It just came out like ‘Rubber Soul’. The Ramones were trying to be Del Shannon or Neil Sedaka and out came ‘Rocket to Russia’. 

With the BellRays there was no conscious effort to ‘combine’ rock and soul because they didn’t see them as divided in the first place. Blues was teaching. Punk was preaching. The BellRays were always listening.

Hailing from the western suburbs of Adelaide, 9 dudes have been culling the pointless trends and debauchery of today, with soul-achingly, aggresively volatile, funk music . They've been experimenting different styles and concepts for years after a well recieved debut album 'the first day of the sunshine'. So join in, take your formals off and put your tappin shoes on for this one, because God God Dammit Dammit are the pioneers of party endurance, the devil inside you, the cherry on the shit cake and the deputies of 100 per cent pure rock'n'roll. Let them. Do that thing. To your ear drums.

DEAD JOE
Dead Joe is a four-piece punk rock outfit from Adelaide, Australia doing what they know best – making good old fashioned punk rock. Simplistic writing and dynamic performances have put this band on numerous line-ups, playing alongside both local artists and bands from abroad. They have played alongside such acts as Tonight Alive, HFH, the MISFITS, Rufio, Unwritten Law, Emery, Suicidal Tendencies + many more. With a successful first EP '6' and another release on the horizon 2013 is looking to be another exciting year for Dead Joe.

THE DEMON PARADE
Their trademark dense psychedelic swirl has earned them a reputation as a must-see live band.  Their psychedelic rock explosion sees the band open up a world of kaleidescopic pop hooks and shimmering melody, channeling the likes of The Stone Roses, The Church and The Small Faces while also clearly taking cues from Spiritualized and the Dandy Warhols.

THEM BRUINS
All 70’s punk showmanship delivered with the depth of a soul-destroying break-up and backed by razor-sharp, riot inciting stabs of hooked-out, shout-in-your-best-friends face, incendiary rock n roll. The trauma-riddled lyrics and anthemic riffage will make you want to knock heads with the guy (or girl!) next to you. Them Bruins will open the show.

THE BOYS
With the girl power of the Spice Girls, the grunge stylings of the Smashing Pumpkins and the visceral energy of The Runaways, THE BOYS are an all-girl grunge outfit from Brisbane. Reviving 1990’s riot grrrl, the band is notorious for their brutally energetic live sets consisting of powerful guitar solos, hard-hitting drums and passionately dirty lyrics. They wished to bring back the late 1990's bohemian grunge raw sound and provide an energetic show that’ll bring out the “angsty teen” in every listener.

SOME JERKS
Some Jerks are a garage/surf rock band from Brisbane, inspired by the girl groups and garage rock of the 60?s, and once quoted as “sounding like Sleater-Kinney covering the Shangri-las”. Playing headline and support shows throughout most of Brisbane?s inner city venues over the the last two years, 2013 saw them venture interstate. They released a self-titled ep in 2011, and followed it up with their debut album “Buddy Rich Made Me Cry” in 2012. 

SPURS FOR JESUS 
An Australian Alternative country/cowpunk band influenced by Jason & The Scorchers and The Johnnys with elements of satire. They started out as a covers band, playing regularly in Newtown's iconic venues 1994 but have progressed gradually to their own unique originals.

WAX HEAD
A three-piece with a bit of modern 'tude & grime' to easygoing surf culture. A little bit of thrust in hand with playful sounds. Dirty seaweed rock for dirty listeners. Rockin' out surf grunge with love and a filthy lust for epic sound and gritty adventure. With a combined love for Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Nirvana, Neil Young, Clapton and Hendrix, all these guys want to do is surf, chill out and make music in the hills.

SKINWALKERS
A band of people, for the people; a no-restriction mentality igniting with a fusion of punk, rock, and metal not heard in this scene for a long time, this outspoken, young and energetic band are on the rise. The band have been turning heads over the past 12 months with a slew of energetic singles, support slots (The Datsuns, Frenzal Rhomb) and an appearance at the 2013 Big Day Out on the Gold Coast.
