BEST COAST! Headline Australian Shows, 2013

Popfrenzy are thrilled to announce the triumphant return of Best Coast to Australian shores this upcoming summer.

2012 has proved to be a milestone year for Best Coast, releasing their critically acclaimed sophomore album ’The Only Place’ (Popfrenzy Records). With the help of producer Jon Brion (Kanye West, Fiona Apple) the band bid farewell to the lo-fi haze that typified earlier releases, adopting a cleaner and more sophisticated approach. This approach signified a step forward for Best Coast, one that has carved out a fresh, mature identity for the Californian quartet.

'The Only Place' entered the US Billboard Charts at #24 with live performances on 'The Late Show With David Letterman', 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' and 'Conan' (O'Brien). The band headlined tours of North America, UK, Europe and Australia, with appearances on Metallica's Orion Festival and Australia's Big Day Out. Singer, Bethany Cosentino collaborated with iconic punk figure Iggy Pop on the song 'Let's Boot And Rally' recorded for the 5th Season of HBO vampire TV Hit 'True Blood' and immediately after their upcoming Australian dates, Best Coast will open for Green Day on their US Arena tour in January 2013. In between all their musical successes, Bethany even managed to start up her own clothing line for the ultra cool Urban Outfitters retail chain.

Backed by a solid performance bassist and drummer, Bethany and Bobb return to Australia to play Falls and Southbound Festival plus two exclusive headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

All grown up and stripped of the fuzzed-out, lo-fi prototype, Best Coast will be showcasing their scintillating new material for Australians this summer, 2013.

We are thrilled to announce the supports for Best Coast's Australian Summer tour!

Wednesday January 2nd
The Hi-Fi (Melbourne)
Warming the stage in Melbourne will be none other than Gold Coast-born, fun-lovin pop-punk duo Bleeding Knees Club. 2012 has proved to be a mammoth year of international touring, recording and partying for the two-piece. Playing at this year's SXSW festival in Austin amongst a throng of other sold festival shows, the boys will be back on the road again next month on their 'Let it Go' tour. Warming the stage for Best Coast, BKC are set to bestow their bag of party tricks and charming petulance upon us!

Up first will be the washed out 90s reverberations produced by the enigmatic Melbourne-based Bored Nothing. With an album coming out on Spunk Records in a matter of weeks, the young prodigy has mastered bedroom recordings on his very own 4 track. Get down early and catch him live in the flesh!

Thursday January 3rd
Metro Theatre (Sydney – All Ages)
Sydney-siders will be partying down to the garage sounds of Brisbane surf-rockers Dune Rats. Fresh off the back of a whirlwind tour of the USA, the loveable duo are back in the land of green and gold and will be rockin' the stage at the Metro Theatre.

Opening proceedings will be self-professed Fruit-pop quartet Pear Shape. Playing infectiously joyous tunes with bright and affable attitudes, these Sydney lads often call on their 60s predecessors such as The Kinks and the Zombies. Featuring members of Bridezilla and the Joysticks, Pear Shape will no doubt have you moving and grooving.
