Out on 26th April 2018, the single follows her debut album bones you have thrown me and blood i’ve spilled, which won the SAY award – Scottish Album of the Year – in 2015. The single’s intimate A-side ‘Tell My Lover’ is awash with visual lyricism and is the first taste of music from her forthcoming second album, which will be released by Rock Action this summer.
One of the UK’s most compelling songwriters, Kathryn Joseph’s music is intimate and emotionally raw and was labelled by The Scotsman as “an overnight success, 17 years in the making”. After turning down her first recording contract at age 23, Kathryn only played the occasional Aberdeen gig for the intervening years and all but gave up on her musical aspirations. After striking up a friendship with producer Marcus Mackay and Claire Mackay (who released Frightened Rabbit’s first single on his Hits The Fan label), Kathryn finally recorded her debut album, with some songs being written over the course of the ten previous years.
Since releasing ones you have thrown me and blood i’ve spilled Kathryn has collaborated with Marcus Mackay and The Twilight Sad's James Graham on the project Out Lines, who’s debut album Conflats was released in October 2017.
Kathryn Joseph was just confirmed for the Robert Smith curated Meltdown Festival, performing with Mogwai on June 21st at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Tell My Lover / The Last Four will be released by Rock Action on limited 7” vinyl and digitally on 26th April 2018.
